7/5 – 7/10
Well, the night drive was fun and I felt confident with my shifting. Of course it will change with a different truck and with a load but I got it now. Orientation is over as well and I am now a Millis employee, on paper.
My class mates have known their trainers for days now and are already on the road. So far I don’t have one. I didn’t request a non smoker or anything. I did tell Greg that I can put up with a lot but if I get one who is disrespectful or likes to yell then there will be a reckoning. I think maybe they are just taking care to find me a good one. If you are a trainer with Millis, please, come and get me.
To sum the three weeks all up, it was a very good experience. The facilities, instructor and training process were top notch. Every driver that I spoke with in private was very happy with their job at Millis. I really feel that it is a company that is big enough to be a player but small enough to be personal. I think any person who has integrity and is willing to work hard can be happy here. I also get the feeling that if you are lack integrity they will sack you in a NY minute. I made a good choice in companies.
So that is the end of the first stage of Millis training in Cartersville Georgia as I experienced it.
