When I last posted I was a happy driver. Not long after that it all went bad for me.
What is not talked about here, since it is my trucking blog, is that I owned a business. I had a lot invested in real estate and am a licensed Realtor. While I was on the road I had some very bad tenants doing very bad things to my property. Now, driving over the road is the most occupying occupation there is. My business got out of hand and I was about to lose a huge investment. I decided I had to turn the truck back in before I lost everything. I gave up trucking and went full time in real estate.
I have learned a very expensive lesson that applies to me. Never be a landlord. If you ever think you want to be a landlord try this. Watch a 24 hour marathon of the Jerry Springer Show and then ask yourself, "Can I stand to deal with these kind of people on a daily basis and more importantly can I trust them to have possession of one of my greatest investments?".
So, for 7 months I have been recovering from this mistake and attempting to be a real estate sales person. A combination of factors (worst market in my lifetime, rookie Realtor, etc.. ) have caused me to decide to give up real estate and go back truck driving.
