The problem continues.
I decided to look into a different area of trucking, expediting. I have some acquaintances that were former drivers at Millis. A husband / wife team, they now drive as contractors driving a fleet owners straight truck that is leased to Panther. Following their experiences and discovering a website called ExpeditersOnline I am intrigued.
I won't go into details about expediting but in a nut shell, they carry high value or critical freight. It usually is picked up on short notice and has to be taken straight through to the delivery site. It is a very interesting business.
I drove up to Knoxville and attended an Expediters workshop. I have also learned all that I can about this business. It is very tempting but I won't pursue it any further. This business is hurting with the current economy too. The only way to succeed now is to be an owner operator, same house hold, team with a working knowledge of the business and all of the special certifications and endorsements. I can't team. I don't want to share my deprivation chamber.
