I picked up my load yesterday and while inspecting the trailer I find it was last shop inspected in 2006. It is a lease or a recently purchased trailer that never made it to a shop. I am instructed to take it to Cartersville to get inspected and the papers refreshed. About six miles from the shop one of the tires explodes. Since it was such complete destruction I just limped on in to the shop. They fix it up and I finally get underway.
I get a message that the annual national DOT blitz starts today. This is where all the DOT officers are out in force and all of the inspection stations are pulling in as many trucks as possible. My stuff is in order so no problems but just extra hassle.
I got to the customer and they are unloading me even though my appointment is for tomorrow morning. Good for me since right now it's not busy but I've been told that it will be in the morning. The reason that I came all the way into the customer is because they will let you park here over night. That is rare these days. Parking is a big problem in the north east and I am in Newark right at the port. I hope I get something easy to find in the morning and going way west or south.
