Last night I finally got to the RichfieldWI yard and got to sleep in a cool climate without worrying about getting a load delivered.
The trip up from Albany involved Atlanta rush hour, Chicago Rush hour and miles and miles of construction. For two days in a row I drove the maximum hours allowed and wth the minimum rest required.
The most annoying thing that happened was in Albany when I was in a fuel island at the Pilot truck stop. I takes a while to fuel a big truck and it gets quite crowded when the trucks are lining up. After filling the tractors tanks, drivers will pull their rig up so that their trailer will clear the pumps and the next driver can pull up and start fueling while they go inside to pay, grab coffee or quickly use the bathroom. Usually, by the time you can fuel, the driver in front is back out to their truck and moving on so that you can pull up. I felt lucky to pull into a pump where a FedEx driver had just finished fueling and was pulling up. When I finished at the pump he had not yet come out. I guessed the line must be really long at the counter. After about five minutes I decided to go in and grab my receipt. When I got back to my truck the FedEx truck was still in the way. After waiting about ten more minutes I got impatient and went inside and got the manager to call for the driver on the intercom to move his truck. I felt sure that would do it. I sat I my truck about ten more minutes and then I got mad. I went back in and after telling the manager that it had been almost a half hour that I was blocked in there and he needed to find the driver or call a tow truck. Truck drivers are a self policing bunch and now a few driver were aware of what was going on and they got involved. After several guys went about the store lookin one guy yelled out "I FOUND HIM". It turns out that The FedEx driver had decide to take a break and play video games! He was basically escorted out to his truck by several drivers and was lucky to get out of there with just a good cussing out by the mob.
I did receive a load for the weekend but it picks up in NeenahWI any time tomorrow and delivers in Cherokee AL on Tuesday for 99 empty and765 loaded miles.
I slept in this morning and took a long shower before going for a real breakfast. Since then I've been doing some work on my computer and organizing my deprivation chamber sleeper cab. I’m shopping for a power inverter for my truck so that I can put a small microwave in here and I’m also looking for an HD digital TV receiver card for my lap top so I can watch over the air TV. Anyone reading this that can recommend a TV cardplease leave a comment about it.
