It was great to be home for a while. Being away really makes you enjoy your home and family a lot more. It’s also tiring to try and cram so much into just a few days.
My restart has been a dud though. I was supposed to restart on Sunday. I got loaded up early and sent the ready message. In a while I got the reply that there was a long list and it would be Monday before I got out. On Monday I got out OK picking up in East Point GA and delivering to our terminal drop yard in Trenton OH. That was one good day but then it bogged down. I was given a load from Trenton to Cincinnati OH delivering at 0830. It was just 38 miles. This customer is downtown Cincinnati and had an interesting dock.
The second picture is from the seat after getting in the dock. It shows the area I had to pull into to set-up before backing. The first picture shows the tractor and trailer in the door being unloaded.
I got these pictures just before the security guard ran out and yelled at me. They don’t want pictures taken. I guess they think I might give them to a competitor to show what a competitive advantage that dock gives them or more likely it might be embarrassing.
I was finished there and drove back to the Trenton terminal to wait for another load. Nothing. There were about ten other drivers sitting around here to. Around 1500, before my dispatcher goes home, I sent a message to see what gives. He says I am next on the list.
Finally I get an offer but it’s for tomorrow. First, at 0430 I have to deliver another load to that Cincinnati customer and then I get an interesting load. It picks up in Trenton but it is a two drop load going to Texas. It also is on a new trailer that we are getting that will carry heavier loads. Instead of being 53 feet long it is 45 feet long but it has a split axle and super single tires. It won’t be too heavy though because my tractor is so big and adds too much to the gross weight. It will be left in Texas for the regional fleet that drives lighter day cab trucks.
