Time to Catch Up

I intended to try to update regularly while on the road but on my first trip my lap top crashed. So here is a brief update about where I went on my first time back out.

I started on Monday the 20th of April. I picked up glass in East Point GA and delivered in Eden SC. Then I took beer to Hawthorn NJ. From there I dead headed to Philadelphia PA and got empty kegs that I delivered to Miller in Milwaukee WI. I next got more empty kegs and took them to Portland ME. Then, in Portland, I got paper rolls and took them to Sussex WI. I then got loaded with paper in Oconto Falls WI and dropped that in Weedsport NY.

I arrived in Weedsport on Friday the 1st of May. Now here is the hard part. I was assigned a load of glass to pick up on Sunday. The problem is, about 12 other drivers were also assigned a glass load to pick up on Sunday. When I realized what was going on I hustled over to the plant and got on the list. I was 9th. The plant was only loading us from one door and they were making the glass as they loaded it. It was taking 3 hours per truck. I finally got loaded around 2:30 am on Monday and had early Tuesday morning appointment in Ridgeway VA. This job gets hard when your sleep time is upset and appointments are tight. Once this pattern is started it’s hard to get it regular again. That’s the way it goes.

I made it to Ridgeway on time and before my ass caught up to me I had to get a load of glass in Ringold VA and take it to Albany GA. Then, I dead headed to East Point GA and got glass going to Trenton OH. In Trenton things got backed up again but I finally got a glass load to Knoxville TN. From there I made it to East Point and dropped the trailer there and headed home.
For the first week I had the sun and the wind t my back. After that I had rain, mud, delays and one flat tire. Still, that’s just the way it goes. At the end I was out 12 days and had 7614 paid miles. I’m home for 3 days including Mothers day.
